So You Think YOU'RE Hungry?-Anushka-Entry #2

So I asked a few people what they thought about world hunger. One or two people seemed actually sad about it..others just didn't care. They cared more about themselves. Not the POOR, DYING, HUNGRY people. Then I showed them our movie. It made some of them actually care! I was pretty surprised, and then I asked them this: If we started a fund raiser of some sort in a grocery store or something, would you donate to help the poor people in Africa, Asia, etc.? To push them a little I told them that when my family lived in Africa,(true fact:D) my mom used to see the hungry people actually take food out of our/our neighbor's garbage can(true fact:D). Most of the people were all like"Yes, of course we would!", but I know that if we actually did it, some people wouldn't even think about donating, and we can't really blame them, because they have their own families to...spend their money on. Some people, though, I could actually tell they cared. They gave me ideas, too. My mom said to ask people to donate money to a charity instead of getting my birthday gifts for my birthday...I said no, but it was a good idea, if you want to do it. Also, some people suggested to sell something in the neighborhood, and give the money to a charity. It was a good idea, and I might actually do it. So, in the end, most people actually seemed to care about world hunger and what we could do about it. :)
If I had to show this to people differently, I would say scarier stuff. More people might care if I told them that every five seconds a kid dies from hunger. Or that America gets more food/resources that a bigger continent, Africa, causing more chances of obesity. Or...well, you get the point. I learned that to persuade people to do what you want, you need to (a) explain it SLOWLY, (b) use convincing words such as: should, must, etc., and (c) use specific facts or statistics that came from a RELIABLE source.
