Air Pollution -- By Abishak Govindarajan

The following are the lessons learn't during Research on Air Pollution:

1. The Air Pollution is made up of several different toxic / harmful gases such as Nitrogen-di-oxide, Sulphur-di-oxide, Carbon mono oxide, Carbon di oxide, etc.,

2. Air Pollution causes aggravated Asthma, Lungs & Heart Diseases, Respiratory Allergies, Bronchitis, Emphysema

3. Carbon mono oxide colorless, odourless, poisonous gas

4. Each Year 4.6 million peoples die

5. France has wall filters to filter pollution in many factories.

6. Transportation pollutes more compared to other man made sources

7. Trucks are the most polluting vehicle compared to other vehicles

8. Living at Delhi is equivalent to smoking 20 cigarettes a day

9. One out of five people in Australia is affected by pollution

10. Pollution is affecting even unborn baby in the womb

11. US transportation is responsible for one-third of carbon di oxide emission in the country

12. SMOG is a ground level ozone is nothing but fog and smoke

13. CLEAN AIR ACT enables consistent reduction in the carbon mono oxide in spite of increased vehicles

14. Air Pollution changes the dynamics of atmosphere

15. Carbon di oxide increases the temperature of surface and thereby increases the atmospheric temperature causing serious environmental effects.

16. Not only what we drive, how we drive the vehicle increases pollution

17. Simply turning off the vehicle engine waiting more than 10 seconds can greatly improve the air quality and gasoline

18. Primary pollutants are emitted directly into atmosphere

19. Secondary pollutants results from chemical reactions between pollution and atmosphere

20. Benezene which is one of the pollutant is causing cancer to workers who is exposed for prolonged period.

21. California produces 1.4% of world's and 6.2% of total US greenhouse gases

22. There are various Technological improvements such as Hybrid cars, Electric Cars, Bio-Diesel, Hydrogen Cars, Fuel Cell, Ethanol Fuel reduces Pollution

23. While other techniques such as using less energy, improve energy efficiency, reduce waste, restrict pollution and moving to non-polluting renewable form of energy production reduces pollution

24. Reducing Green-House Gas Effects can be implemented through Sharing Cars, Using Public Transportation, Switching-off lights & computers when not using

25. Unversity of California at Berkeley recently examined six major studies of Ethanol production and concluded that using Ethanol made from Corn instead of gasoline would lead to 13% reduction in Green-House emissions
