Reluctant to Change the World? --- Jack Liu #2

When I showed the video to my parents, they didn't seem extremely interested. They were half listening when I was talking to them, and when I asked the next day, they forgot completely. When my mom finally understood, she started saying we didn't need one, and she seemed adamant. So, I didn't get any results from my family. However, when I asked my friend Sushyl, he seemed quite interested. After I explained a little, he liked the idea, and was quite motivated to get a timed wall switch. There were many good signs, so I think I convinced him. Mr. Bowman didn't really need convincing, because we already have occupancy sensors at school.
My mom didn't want to buy a light timer or timed wall switch because she doesn't think we need them. The occupancy sensors and light shelves were too expensive, even with pay-back later on. Overall, I don't think she thought it was such a big deal. My friend likes the idea of timed wall switch as a timer, and said it would be useful for his family.
I learned that people can be quite adamant, and that being cost-effective is an extremely important factor when advertising/selling/convincing. I would have to convince my mom that we really do need something to help us remember, and that it's not a waste of money. Therefore, I would have to give true evidence about light timers' affect on households, and that we do forget to turn lights off sometimes. I probably must also drill in the fact that light timers cost around three dollars, and that money will be gained back in no time. In a nutshell, I need to emphasize the low price and effectiveness of my "products" and the ineffectiveness of current methods most/more.
